For SolStone Coaching, our foundation is rooted far beyond the boardroom.
It was also forged in the high-stress crucibles of
military leadership, global crisis management, and the raw, unscripted trials of real life.
For over two decades in the United States Air Force, both founders operated at the intersection of extreme complexity and human vulnerability. Cody first confronted the raw reality of institutional friction, disconnected leaders, and the crushing weight of impostor syndrome and burnout while leading Airmen through some of their darkest days, as a new reality took shape and conflict erupted in the aftermath of 9/11. Later, scaling his impact to the enterprise level, he commanded high-stakes global logistics under threat of international conflict, directed multi-million-dollar assets, and shaped workforce allocation policy for over 300,000 personnel at the Air Force Personnel Center. Tammy spent her 22-year active-duty career navigating similarly demanding challenges, transitioning from managing global data networks and no-fail multinational threat communication centers to commissioning as a Nurse Corps officer. In that role, she directed critical resource deployments for wounded warriors during Operation Enduring Freedom and engineered systemic organizational health interventions under high-stakes conditions of immeasurable pressure.
Yet, some of the most profound provocations weren't just the ones we faced in uniform, they were in our living rooms and back yards, on porch swings and tailgates. Like many leaders, we charged through the heavy fog of life's transitions, navigating the heartbreaking gauntlet of divorce, family trials, unexpected loss, and the delicate, high-value work of blending a family and weaving a marriage through some of life's most turbulent waters. We know what it means to hold a professional life together on the outside while trying to heal, reconstruct, and stabilize a fractured family dynamic on the inside.
We saw firsthand how high-stakes environments and personal upheaval can erode communication, distort internal values, and leave capable individuals stranded in open water with no visible star to guide them.
Just as ancient Norse navigators relied on the Sólarsteinn (Sunstone) to find their heading, we had to pierce the veil of blinding fog and find our own internal clarity. We had to strip away the noise, realign with our personal core values, and do the deep internal work required to move forward with unyielding resilience.
In those moments of trial, we realized a fundamental truth:
The light needed to navigate a storm is always present.
You simply need the right instrument to reveal it.
We learned that healing the past and resolving clinical roadblocks (the vital work of therapy and stabilization) is only the first step. Once an individual or a team is stable, they need a dedicated guide and coach to build forward momentum, navigate future growth, and master the next stages of execution.
Our aim is to provide the precise lens, the reliable framework, and the experienced guidance needed when life, love, or leadership feels like a turbulent sea. We combine rigorous, data-driven diagnostic strategies with human-centered coaching to help leaders, couples, and organizations:
Uncover foundational strengths and align internal values
Navigate high-stress environments, deconflict transitions, mitigate burnout
Re-engineer organizational dynamics, fostering trust and psychological safety
Transform uncertainty into an actionable, enduring path forward
You don't have to wait for the storm to clear to find your way through it. You just need the right instrument and a guide who has walked the path before you.
